Samantha Mikaiel, MS
Alumni
About
Dr. Samantha Mikaiel received her Ph.D. from UCLA through the Biomedical Physics Interdepartmental Program. Her research focused on developing fast imaging techniques for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), with an emphasis on improving reconstruction methods for real-time imaging. These techniques have applications in guiding interventions, assessing treatment efficacy, and performing ongoing clinical monitoring.
Prior to her doctoral studies, she earned her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami in 2013. As an undergraduate, she participated in the Summer Undergraduate Program for Educating Radiation Scientists at the University of Pennsylvania, where she worked with Dr. Stephen Avery on validating 3D treatment planning software for the Small Animal Radiation Research Platform. She also worked with Dr. Weizhao Zhao on designing a shield for an Earth Strength NMR.
Graduate student, 2014-2018; subsequently at Vanguard
She is an alumni of the Wu lab.
